Saving the climate together: 1KOMMA5° connects decentralized energy systems into a virtual power plant
Around 200 countries agreed in the Paris Agreement to limit the global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius. Although this limit has already been temporarily exceeded, according to experts, many individuals and companies continue to fight for climate protection. Since 2021, this has included the Hamburg startup, 1KOMMA5°.
The team, led by CEO and co-founder Philipp Schröder, aims to develop the company into the leading one-stop-shop for intelligent, integrated energy solutions like photovoltaics, energy storage, heat pumps, and charging stations. But the user journey for leads hasn’t always been this easy, reflects marketing expert, Joshua Habener. He joined 1KOMMA5° as the first marketing employee a year after the company was founded. In true startup fashion, he handled a variety of tasks in the beginning. Now, as the International Growth Manager, his primary focus is the website – the young company’s most important lead gen channel.
"We initially had a very complex calculator that required a lot of information and didn’t work well on mobile devices," says Joshua. With a target audience that includes less tech-savvy homeowners, this quickly led to frustratingly high dropout rates.
